Marina update!

To the outside world it probably looks as though we have been hibernating since the beginning of 2022, but we really haven’t ! In fact, life at White Mills has been really busy, hence the lack of blogs over the past few months!

Firstly what is totally unbelievable is this Friday 1st April the marina will be celebrating its 6th birthday - SIXTH BIRTHDAY!!! Normally we host a small drinks “do” in the boathouse but obviously COVID has scuppered those plans for the past two years. Thankfully , this year we are able to resurrect our birthday celebrations and we are now looking forward to seeing everyone in the flesh on Friday evening. So happy birthday to us!

We have all been absolutely shaken by the current Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the feeling of total helplessness has been unanimously felt across the marina. We decided to do our bit by running an online auction to raise money for the DEC - (Disaster Emergency Committee) - Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Among the lots on offer was a fabulous riverside picnic, a weekend in Mary’s Shepherds Hut as well as a weekend camping in our Certificated Camping and Caravanning Club site. Amazingly we raised £600 and then our friends from The Friends of the River Nene who we have worked closely with ever since we opened in 2016 boosted the total by a further £500. So we raised a truly amazing ………… click Appeal reveal . So thank you to all those people who helped us to achieve such a fabulous result.

Talking of fabulous results boat sales have really gone mad, and we are continuously being asked if we have anything for sale, from cruisers to project boats to saleaways and widebeams. The most recent boat to come onto our books was 58’ cruiser stern Karubeanna which was only on the market for one week before being sold!, So if you are looking for something make sure you put your name down with Boatfinder Brokerage and they will keep you up to date with all the latest sales news.

Finally, the boathouse has been hugely busy, especially since the fine weather kicked in last week. We have recently invested in the boathouse to provide our guests with an improved visitor experience, which has included installing a fabulous and truly impressive extractor fan system, new coffee machine and grinder and then in a couple of weeks we will be putting out our Summer benches and creating a more garden type feel to the outside…… so watch this space. Our boathouse team is a spectacular team, and one which we are incredibly proud of, they work tirelessly to ensure they provide guests with the perfect brew with a view. And in our view they do!
