Good news for canoes!

If you are a canoe enthusiast, a passionate kayaker or a keen paddle boarder, then Boris’ announcement last night would have been music to your ears, no doubt. The good news is that you can as from tomorrow, Wednesday 13th May, begin to enjoy mucking about on the Nene again but only in a kayak, canoe or on a paddle board. Hurrah!

So now, although they are only little steps, we fully expect to see some additional activity on the River Nene once again, which will be great. Hopefully, it will not be too long until the EA give boaters the thumbs up for navigation to get going again so they can commence their Summer cruising adventures. In the meantime there is very little change for boaters, movement on the River Nene is restricted to essential movement only which we know is very frustrating indeed, we will of course keep you updated as soon as we hear anything.

As for our wonderful boathouse, from last night’s statement it does not look as though it will be able to open its doors before 4th July. We have a whole raft of guidance notes that need to be digested before any decisions are made. Again welcoming our regulars back can not come soon enough, we have all really missed them. The good news is we have taken the opportunity to repaint the outside and carry out some minor maintenance work, and it is all looking ship shape indeed, we cannot wait for you to come and see for yourselves how fab it looks.
